In act, Shasta City, six miles west of Redding, was once known as the “Queen City”. To learn more about this fascinating history, plan a visit to Shasta State Historic Park. The Shasta County Courthouse has been meticulously restored to its former 1860s glory. Now it’s a museum where visitors can find out about life in the mining town. There are several interactive exhibits telling the story of Shasta, “The Queen City of the Northern Mines”. The courtroom, jail, and gallows have all been restored and decorated with original furniture. A storytelling “ghost” is still locked in the jail. You can learn a lot about mining town justice near your Shasta County home.

Once you’ve had enough history indoors, explore the 19 acres of the park, which encompasses the historic town of Shasta. The brick ruins of the main street include what were once the hotels, barbershops, meat markets, and stables of this boom town. The ruins of cottages, gardens, and orchards will be seen walking the park’s trails. The Pioneer Barn gives a clear picture of farming and mining, which many implements from the 1800s. Art and Redding Real Estate Happening at Old City Hall

Enjoy dancing near Redding real estateArtists and art lovers living on Redding real estate should check out the Shasta County Arts Council. Their goal is to “make the arts accessible to all members of our diverse community.” To that end, they have a gallery showing the work of local artists. They also have a very full calendar of events. The gallery is located at Old City Hall, 1313 Market Street in Redding. It’s open Tuesday-Friday from noon to 5 p.m. If there is a gallery show on display it’s open on the 4th Saturday of the month from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Shasta County Arts Council hosts many events near Redding real estate. Don’t miss the 9th Annual Silent Film Festival in October. Charlie Chaplin’s film The Tramp is celebrating its 100th birthday. Come see it played on an actual film reel with live music.

There are several classes held at the Arts Council location at Old City Hall. Right now, there are ballroom and Latin dance classes, as well as ballet for adults and teens.
