Cascade Theatre is a wonderful example of the best of vintage Redding real estate. Built in 1935, it had the best of cinema technology in its day. The Cascade was a place for the Redding community to come together. In the ensuing decades it fell into disrepair. However, it was restored to its former glory in 2004. In fact it was made better. Sound and lighting capabilities were updated. It also boasts a new, deeper stage, orchestra pit, mezzanine lobby, computerized box office, concession area, and expanded and updated bathroom facilities.
Residents of Redding homes are able to come together as a community once again, to enjoy a variety of performances. Northstate Symphony plays its Redding concerts at the Cascade. The Jefferson Repertory Company and Redding City Ballet also use the Cascade as their home base. Jefferson Public Radio also hosts events, including music, theater, and dance.
Cascade Theatre is truly the community theater for people in Redding homes. Not only is it a venue for community performance groups, it’s also supported by the community.
